Truth and Godliness

Early in my Christian walk I studied and memorized the Scriptures often for the wrong reasons. Eventually the Holy Spirit brought strong conviction upon me that what I was learning was for me to apply, not just know. I needed to let the Word of God examine my own life. I needed to look into the mirror of the word and see my own blemishes. I needed to learn more about God so I could love Him better.

What about your life? What do you do with your Bible knowledge? Why do you study, read, meditate, and memorize the Word of God? Is it to get a grade? Is it to impress people? Is it to win an argument? Is it to make people think you are spiritual? Or do you study to see your sins better and know and love your God better? If you truly believe the Bible is the Word of God and get to know it, it will grow you more into the image of Christ as our text teaches us today.
