When Unmet Expectations Lead to Conflict

Lisa Hughes

What do you do when you have expectations for someone and those expectations aren’t met and somewhere along the way there is a break in your relationship? How should we respond when our relationships become strained under the burden of unmet expectations and conflict actually begins to emerge?

One expectation we often have is that because we are Christians we won’t have conflict, that everyone will just get along. But that expectation forgets how pervasive and deep our own sin nature is within us. We need to understand that even among the best and the brightest disunity can occur. That’s why we need to understand and guard against letting the expectations we have for others or them for us, turn into an opportunity for conflict. In this session, we'll learn how to protect our relationships with each other, so that conflict doesn’t escalate and bring dishonor to the name of Christ.
